interested in becoming a member?
Church Membership is open to any who publicly profess Jesus Christ as their Savior (the One who paid for your sins by His death on the cross) and their Lord (the Master or boss of your life), and are in agreement with our statement of faith (found in our Church Constitution), and are willing to be obedient to Jesus’ command to be Biblically baptized. Biblical Baptism is by immersion (being placed under the water as opposed to sprinkling) as a symbol or public testimony of a person’s faith in Jesus, and is to be done at some time after the person places their trust in Jesus. If you have not yet trusted Jesus as your Savior, we encourage you to do so today!
There are three ways that we receive members:
- By Baptism:
This is for those who, at some time in their lives, have placed their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, and want to be Biblically baptized and join the church. - By Transfer Of Church Membership:
If you are already a Christian, and have a membership in another Baptist Church, we will be glad to request a transfer of your membership to our church. - By Statement:
If you are a Believer in Jesus Christ and have already been Biblically baptized (by immersion), but are not a member of another Baptist church, we can accept you as a member of Newport Baptist by statement.
Any of these requests can be made during the invitation time of any worship service. Simply come forward and inform the Pastor of your decision to join the church. With church membership comes certain expectations: regular attendance (as health and work schedule allows), regular prayer support, and regular giving through tithes and offerings.
