Gary began in Music Ministry while in college in 1977. After serving in music, youth and education ministries, he was called to his first church as Pastor in March, 2001. The Lord brought Pastor Gary and his family to Newport Baptist Church in March of 2003.

He and his wife Tammy have four grown daughters, Sam, Mandy (who is married to Bob Bowman), Grace (who is married to Don McKee) and Lindy (who is married to Sloan Heffner). Pastor Gary not only preaches the Word in each service, but also leads us in worship (with help from Grace and Lindy), leads the Church Choir and works with our Youth. Tammy has a heart for teens, and is co-teacher with Grace McKee of our Youth Sunday School class and Youth Stuff on Wednesday evenings. She also leads a Ladies Bible Study with Sam as her assistant.

This is Pastor Gary’s testimony: “I was raised in a Christian home and we always went to church. But it wasn’t until I was about 15 that I asked Jesus to save me. I was singing in a youth choir sponsored by the Protestant Chapel on the military base where I lived (Camp LeJeune, North Carolina), and after one of the performances, I realized I was lost. I asked Jesus to be my Savior and Lord, and surrendered my life to Him. I am confident that I am eternally secure in God’s love. God called me to preach while on staff at Calvary Baptist Church, East Camden, Arkansas, On May 8, 1993. Since that time I continue to grow in my relationship with God as I submit my life to His calling.”
